Message from
Mr. Phan Wannamethee
President of The World Fellowship of Buddhists
at the Opening Ceremony of Won-Buddhism Temple
21 November B.E. 2560 (2017)

Venerable Sirs, Ladies, and Gentlemen,

On behalf of the World Fellowship of Buddhists and its networking organization, I have much pleasure in offering my warmest congratulations to Won-Buddhism on the Opening Ceremony of its temple in Thailand.
It is a source of gratification to note that the relationship and co-operation between Won-Buddhism and the World Fellowship of Buddhists (The WFB) based on profound understanding has been long rooted dating back since the time of presidency of the late Her Serene Highness Princess Poon Pismai Diskul.  It is the history of co-operation and friendship which we highly cherish.  The relationship between our two organizations continues to flourish until the present time.  The Most Respectful Prime Dharma Master Kyongsan was the honorable guest of the 100th Birthday Anniversary of the Late His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara in October B.E.2556 (2013) and also paid an official visit to The WFB Headquarters in Bangkok on the same occasion.  Moreover, recently the former Prime Dharma Master Emeritus, the Most Venerable Chwasan Nim led his group from Won-Buddhism in Korea to visit The WFB Headquarters in October this year.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
As the world keeps changing rapidly, globalization and modernization seems to make people’s way of life changed so much than we can imagine.  Hence in accordance with the Lord Buddha’s teachings, we should reinforce strong and positive moral society and encourage people to live in moderation, tolerance, compassion and perseverance way of living.  We are taught to lead our life with the middle path of moderation and contentment that finally leads us to peaceful way of life.

Won-Buddhism is a reformed and modernized Buddhism that leads people on how to use our minds and enlighten us to the truth that can lead to happy and peaceful lives.  The One thousandth Anniversary of Won-Buddhism last year was evidently revealing its long commitment and devotion of disseminating Buddhism.  The inauguration ceremony of opening Won-Buddhism Temple in Thailand will be a very good opportunity for the Korean and the Thai to learn each other culture and way of Buddhism.  With quite a large community of Korean in Thailand, we are sure that Won-Buddhism will be wider observed not only among the Korean but also to Thai community.

We, The World Fellowship of Buddhists Headquarters, highly value with respect the competence of Won-Buddhism.  A strong and active WFB Regional Centre like Won-Buddhism is a great asset to our organization and is advantageous to the Buddhists all over the world.

With this remark, may I now have the pleasure of declaring open, the Won-Buddhism Temple in Bangkok, Thailand and to extend my sincere best wishes and warmest congratulations to the Won-Buddhism temple, wishing them to enjoy the blessings of every success and fruitful achievement in their efforts in promoting Buddhism.
