Thailand Climate Action Conference (TCAC)

On 5 August B.E. 2565 (2022) Most Ven. Phra Dhammashakyavamshavisuddhi (Anil Sakya), Rector of the World Buddhist University (WBU), delivered a speech on the topic of Carbon Neutrality vs Karma Sufficiency at the Thailand Climate Action Conference on the theme of “Thailand’s Future, the Future of the World: Our Future: Our Responsibility, Our Opportunity” organized by Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand, held at Royal Paragon Hall in Bangkok, Thailand.  Its opening ceremony was presided by Prime Minister of Thailand, General Prayut Chan-o-cha.  Renown scholars of both private and government sectors were invited and presented their visions.

The Most Venerable emphasized on protection of biosphere and biodiversity through mindful awareness of the undeniable of self and environment as one and also clarify that Buddhist way of living is indeed a perfect way to carbon neutrality and net zero emission.  He furthered stated that a newly ordained monk should lives a monastic life by 4 principles that are 1. Live by sufficiency economy, 2. Live by recycling, 3. Live with nature, and 4. Live on self-sufficiency.
