On 22nd September B.E. 2567 (2024) Dr. Phinyo Sriwirachai, a palliative care specialist from Siriraj Hospital in Thailand and a Fellow in Palliative Medicine from Kobe University, Japan, delivered a speech titled “Palliative Care for End-of-Life Happiness” at the Sanya Dharmasakti Auditorium Hall, The WFB Headquarters.
Palliative care is a specialized approach for patients living with a serious illness. Its primary focus is on alleviating symptoms and reducing stress associated with illness, ultimately aiming to enhance the quality of life for both patients and families. This type of care emphasizes effective symptom management to ensure a good quality of life until the end. By minimizing physical and emotional suffering, palliative care fosters stronger relationships among families during their final moments together. Importantly, palliative care can be provided alongside regular medical treatment.
