International Peace Conference 2024

On 27th October, the World Fellowship of Buddhists (The WFB) joined the Kathina Ceremony at Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimonmangkalaram in Paris, France, to celebrate the 6th Cycle Birth Anniversary of H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of Thailand. 

The following day, the Royal Thai Embassy in France, the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Thailand to UNESCO, and The WFB co-organized the International Peace Conference 2024, held from 28th - 29th October.  The event, in partnership with the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY), the World Buddhist University (WBU), including the Peace and Harmony Development Association of Master Chin Kung’s Friends at UNESCO (PAHD), featured opening remarks by Mr. Phallop Thaiarry, President of The WFB.

The morning session focused on youth perspectives on “Royal Patron and Peace,” while the final day included speeches from key dignitaries, including H.E. Sarun Charoensuwan, Ambassador of Thailand to France, H.E. Ms. Vera El Khoury Lacoeuilhe, Chairperson of the Executive Board of UNESCO, and leaders from the Thai Supreme Sangha Council and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

The afternoon session, commemorating the 6th Cycle Birth Anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of Thailand, featured speeches on theme “Continuing Sustainable Society of Peace,” by WFB leaders, including Prof. Dr. Vicha Mahakun, Advisor to The WFB, who delivered a speech on “How Buddhism Can Create Happiness: King Rama X -The Royal Patron of All Faiths” and “The Ten Virtues in Buddhism,” and Most Ven. Phra Bhramashakyavamshavisuddhi (Dr. Anil Man Sakya), Senior Advisor, addressed the topic “Stability of the Nation, Happiness of the People, Correcting the Wrong, and Continuing of the Royal Resolution, under the Sustainable Agronomy Principle,” alongside representatives from regional centres of The WFB across the world, Most Ven. Thich Vien Ly (Advisor to The WFB President) from the U.S.A., Most Ven. Thich Phuoc Tan (Vice-President) from Australia, Most Ven. Dayi Shi (Vice-President) from Canada, Rev. Ryosho Shoji (Deputy Secretary-General) from Japan, Dato’ Tan Gin Soon (Vice-President) from Malaysia, Rev. Sunmi Choi (Vice President of WFBY) from Korea, Mr. Jagath Sumathipala (Vice-President) from Sri Lanka, and Dr. Monshu Koshin Otani from India.
