On 4th October B.E. 2568 (2025), the Headquarters of the World Fellowship of Buddhists (The WFB) organized the Buddha Image Casting Ceremony of Phra Pichitmara Matthayom Buddhakarn (Subduing Mara Buddha Image) on the auspicious occasion of the 75th Anniversary of The WFB’s Establishment.
The ceremony was graciously presided over by Most Venerable Somdet Phra Mahawiravong, Secretary to His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, as President of the Sangha, and Mr. Phallop Thaiarry, President of The WFB, as President of the Lay Congregation. The event took place at the Ubosot of Wat Boromniwat Ratchaworawihan, Bangkok.
Phra Pichitmara Matthayom Buddhakarn is a sacred Buddha image symbolizing victory over all forms of defilements, desires, and temptations. It represents triumph through wisdom and enlightenment, subduing the inner disturbances of the mind and leading to inner peace and awakening.
This particular Buddha image was originally enshrined at the Ubosot of Wat Boromniwat Ratchaworawihan on 24th May B.E. 2493 (1950) — the very same day the World Fellowship of Buddhists was founded, which coincided with Vesak Day.
