Won-Buddhism Executive Director Visited The WFB Headquarters

          20 October B.E. 2568 (2025) — The World Fellowship of Buddhists (The WFB) Headquarters in Bangkok welcomed a delegation from Won-Buddhism Headquarters led by Rev. Sangho Na Executive Director accompanied by Rev. Young In-Sa, Head of International Affairs Rev. Seongoh Lee Manager of International Affairs Rev. Sunmi Choi,  Abbot of Won-Buddhism Temple in Bangkok and Rev. Kang Se Jin.

          They were warmly received by Mr. Phallop Thaiarry  President Mrs. Kanchana Soonsawad Vice-President Mr. Montian Thananart Secretary-General Mr. Kongkar Tipkeeree Treasurer and Mrs. Sawanee Chuensumran Deputy Secretary-General.

          The WFB and Won-Buddhism share a longstanding friendship that traces back to B.E. 2501 (1958), when Rev. Park Gil-jin, President of Wonkwang University, attended the 5th WFB General Conference in Thailand as an Observer. Later, in B.E. 2523 (1980), Won-Buddhism was officially recognized as a Regional Centre of The WFB from the Republic of Korea at the 13th WFB General Conference. Since then, cooperation between the two organizations has flourished in many dimensions.

          Several distinguished representatives from Won-Buddhism have also held prominent positions within The WFB. Rev. Atawon (Jeon Pal-geun), Won-Buddhism National Vice President, was elected as an Executive Council Member; Rev. (Hosan) Kim Sang Ho served as Deputy Secretary-General; and Rev. Young In-Sa was appointed as Vice-President of The WFB at the United Nations.

          In recent years, Won-Buddhism has actively advanced interreligious dialogue and cooperation at the international level through initiatives such as the Interfaith Coalition Conference for Global Citizens (ICCGC), which fosters mutual understanding and promotes peace among diverse faith communities worldwide.
