Humanitarian Activities: Donation Presentation Ceremony for Sabusawajima Island Fishing Community

B.E. 2554 (2011)
Amidst the COVID -19 pandemic the humanitarian assistance was still carried on.  It was 10 years since earthquake and tsunami happened in eastern of Japan B.E. 2554 (2011) which The WFB had provided assistance, especially in Sabusawajima Island that has not yet been recovered; it was aggravated by COVID-19 situation which assistance was diminished by days.  The Japan Buddhist Federation (JBF), the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the co-operation of The WFB, provided humanitarian assistance and utilized the donation to purchase necessary equipment (fishing nets and outboard motors) for fishing community so that people could resume self-reliant living.  Donation presentation ceremony was held in Shiogama, Miyagi on 3 June B.E.2564 (2021) which Rev. Yoshiharu Tomatsu (Chairperson of JBF), Mr. Koki Sato (Mayor of Shiogama City), Mr. John A. McCune (2nd Counselor of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Asia North Area), Rev. Ryosho Shoji (Deputy Secretary-General of The WFB, and President of Tohoku Sangha, Japan), and Rev. Yuken Kikuchi (Secretary of JBF International Affairs) attended the ceremony.
