President of The WFB participated at the 18th United Nations International Day of Vesak

The United Nations at its 54th meeting in December B.E. 2542 (1999) recognized the Day of Vesak as international event to acknowledge the contribution that Buddhism has made and continues to make to the spirituality of humanity.  This year the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana, presided over the opening ceremony which Buddhists monks and devotees took part in a celebration at the United Nation’s headquarters in Thailand from 31 May – 2 June B.E. 2566 (2023). Theme of this year was “Buddhist Wisdom Coping with Global Crises.”  There were more than 3,500 monks and laities from 50 countries took part in the ceremony, that was organized by Mahachulalongkorn Rajavidhayalaya University, the Supreme Sangha Council and the government of Thailand. 

On 2 June B.E. 2566 (2023), Mr. Phallop Thaiarry, President of The WFB, participated and delivered a goodwill message at the 18th United Nations Day of Vesak.  Moreover, Mr. Montian Thananart (Secretary-General), and Mrs. Kanchana Soonsawad (Vice-President) also attended the conference.
