The Deputy Secretary General and Executive of The WFB @UNESCO, Mr. Jun-an Bill Chen attended the 5th Extraordinary Session of the General Conference of UNESCO at its headquarter in Paris, France from 29-30 June B.E. 2566 (2023).  The topic of discussion is request of the United States of America, which resigned from UNESCO since October B.E. 2560 (2017), to rejoin the Organization with a commitment to repay its estimated arrears of USD 619 million.  UNESCO’s 193 member states examined this proposal and adopted this return with a large majority votes.  UNESCO will thus benefit from a reinforced budget to implement its programs for education, culture, and science, including supporting its actions for Africa and gender equality.
