The Celebration of 45th Anniversary of Japanese Temple in Bodhgaya, India

The 45th Anniversary of Nippon-ji Temple, a Japanese temple in Bodhgaya, was celebrated on 24 November B.E. 2561 (2018). It was hosted by International Buddhist Brotherhood Association which delegates and guests from India were invited.  On the same occasion 2 celebrations were also held.  Firstly was the 40th anniversary of Bodaiju-gakuen, built by Japan Buddhist Nursery and Kindergarten Association to provide free kindergarten for Indian families which were not afford to send their children to school.  Secondly, the 35th anniversary of Komyo Free Medical Clinic, built by Japan Buddhist Women’s Federation to provide free medical services to Indian people who is unaffordable for medical treatment.


However, due to the improved economic situation in India, Komyo Medical Clinic is changed its services by providing education to mothers and children including job training.  The International Buddhist Brotherhood Association will spend 6,000,000 Japanese Yen per year on this new project.


Arch. Kokei Kitakawara, Abbot of Nippon-ji Temple from Japan, presided over the anniversary ceremony.   Reverend Ikuko Hibino, Chairperson of Standing Committee on Humanitarian Services of The WFB, also participated at the ceremony.
