The 29th General Conference of The World Fellowship of Buddhists (The WFB) and its subordinate organs’ conference and meeting, the 20th General Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY), and the 11th Council Meeting of the World Buddhist University (WBU)

5-9 November B.E. 2561 (2018)
During 5-9 November B.E. 2561 (2018), The WFB had organized the 29th General Conference in Narita and Yokohama, Japan along with its subordinate organs’ conference and meeting -the 20th WFBY General Conference and the 11th WBU Council Meeting.  The host of this conferences and meeting is Japan Buddhist Federation (JBF) and it is the fourth time that The WFB General Conference was held in Japan.



JBF hosted the 2nd General Conference in B.E. 2495 (1952) after The WFB was established.  It was 10 years since our last conference (the 24th) was held in Japan B.E. 2551 (2008).   Approximately more than 500 participants from Regional Centres of The WFB, WFBY and WBU around the world including local participants attended the Conference.  At present, The WFB family has got totally 205 Regional Centres from 51 countries from all over the world.  Moreover, the 92nd Executive Council Meeting was also held at the same time.



Significantly, this conference marked a successful to the new chapter of The WFB, WFBY, and WBU from having got revised Constitutions of The WFB, and of WFBY including Charter of WBU in order to carry forward the Buddhist mission in the same direction with unity and solidarity.  Moreover, congratulations to President of the WFBY, who is newly elected by the 20th WFBY General Conference, Reverend Hakuga Murayama, from All Japan Young Buddhist Association.



The WFB as the mother organization has WFBY as fostering unit to cultivate the new generation to further responsibility for The WFB in the future, whereas, WBU will be the brain and academic wing of The WFB.  Ven. Fra Shakyavongsvisuddhi (Anil Sakya), Rector of WBU, also presented detail of the 2018 WBU International Conference on the Buddhist Path to Sustainable Development Goals to be held from 4-5 December B.E. 2561 (2018) in Bangkok, Thailand.



Closing Ceremony and Prayer for World Peace were held at Sojiji Temple in Yokohama.  In addition, symposium on “Compassion in Action: Creating Hope in Life and Death” which was happened in many societies more often.  The symposium provides some insightful perspective on how to deal with it.   At Sojiji Temple all participants were also enjoy on-hand experience of some Japanese craft, tradition, and snack.
